Barcelona target, Jonathan Tah

Financial Fair Play has always been a problem for Barcelona, and the problem is still ongoing, making it important for Barcelona to make big signings in the January transfer period.

But for the summer of 2025, preparations are already being made by the club where Barcelona will probably be tucking its attention on getting rid of the players that are not considered relevant and getting the players Flick wants for his team.

One of the primary targets is the signing of Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah, signing of whose deal is believed to be underway.

That’s the report from SPORT, where they state that Barcelona are in the advanced stages of signing the German centre-back on a free transfer at the end of the current season.

Jonathan Tah To Barcelona Is Close

Club sources have claimed that this deal could be sealed in weeks, with Tah expected to reach his decision in mid-January.

Barcelona’s target signing is a 28-year-old defender, Flick and sporting director Deco have shown interest in him for some time now.

Based on his attributes, Tah shows great Ball Control and aerial reach, as well as good Defensive positioning and thus should fit perfectly in the Barça Defensive lineup.

In addition, he also possesses strong leadership qualities and is ideally suited for a team desirous of maintaining its status in domestic and Europe as well.

Barcelona had thought about signing Tah during the last summer transfer window when Ronald Araüjo and Andreas Christensen were injured.

But Bayer Leverkusen could not release him. Some constant chatter with Tah’s camp over time has now put the Blaugrana at a vantage to nail the man.

Tah’s signing will entail a three-year initial contract with the option of an extension to a fourth year with little money being paid across the term of the contract in the form of a signing bonus.

Barcelona’s financial offer may be less impressive than the Bayern Munich or top English clubs’ proposals, but the opportunity to play for this team is considered one of the main factors in Tah’s choosing.

Should Tah join, Barcelona is likely to look for other options in the defensive list; some of the defensive players who might be making a move away from the Club include Eric García and Andreas Christensen.

The decision about Tah’s transfer is expected before January 15, which will allow Barça to adjust their plans in the construction of the team for the next season.
