Victor Osimhen Transfer News

Nigerian source BusinessDay has stated that Manchester United is interested in signing Victor Osimhen, and the former Lille forward is already eager to join Old Trafford’s team with initial negotiations conducted.

The Super Eagles international, who plays for Napoli but is currently on loan at Galatasaray, has been the subject of huge interest by the Red Devils in this January transfer window in their bid to bolster their striking force.

Osimhen, 25, has been particularly impressive at Galatasaray in the current season notching 13 goals in 16 games. However, Manchester United are also plotting for his future by planning to place a bid to sign him for the club.

He inked a contract renewal with Napoli, specifically in December 2023, actually with a €90 million (£74.8m) release clause, but his working relationship with the Italian club is now strained, thereby opening the door for his transfer.

United always lacked a quality striker in the past and this is quite evident after the poor performers of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee.

Together, they have managed only five goals in the Premier League this season — an obvious concern for the manager, Ruben Amorim, who is seeking to reinforce his attack.

Napoli’s Victor Osimhen Wants Old Trafford Move

There is news that Osimhen is ‘willing’ to move to Manchester United as the next level of his progression. Galatasaray.

On the other hand, might get €10 million (£8.3 million) if the Nigerian’s loan deal is cut short. However, Napoli could reduce the release clause to €75 million (£62.3 million) as part of the deal.

The Red Devils, though are unable to meet the Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules following a net spend of £93.8 million during the summer.

A simple transfer remains on the table, though there has also been talk of a swap for Marcus Rashford, whose status at the club is unknown.

United are also tracking Sporting CP forward Viktor Gyökeres who has a past working relationship with Amorim. However, the Portuguese coach will be reluctant to bid for his former player, having promised his previous club he would not do so.

Since Osimhen hit the goal target and expressed his willingness to join United, the coming weeks could bring changes in the sporting high-profile transfer.
