Trent Alexander-Arnold Transfer News

Liverpool are now faced with a challenging issue that concerns the contract status of their best performing defender, Trent Alexander Arnold, who has the chance to leave for free at the end of the current season.

For some years, Arnold has been a mainstay of the team and his speculative contract situation has seen him generate a lot of attention amongst rival teams, both within England as well as across Europe.

The 26-year-old has been heavily transfer linked with Spanish giants Real Madrid who regard him as an important acquisition for the team.

However, in a development few would have expected, Caught Offside claims that Manchester City, Liverpool’s fellow English Premier League side, are now interested in signing Alexander-Arnold.

Manchester City are said to be interested in the right-back to replace Kyle Walker whose future at the Etihad seems uncertain.

Manchester City Is Interested In Alexander Arnold

There were discussions with Manchester City and the player’s entourage, which may take advantage of Liverpool’s inability to agree on an extension of the contract.

It would be a big decision because Alexander-Arnold is regarded as a product of Liverpool’s youth system, a young talented player who is quickly developing into one of the finest right-backs of his generation.

To lose Alexander-Arnold would be a massive blow to the team, as well as for Liverpool. His skill, foresight and physical prowess to also influence play from wide areas has been key in the Arne Slot’s system.

Also, the possibility of the defender signing for a direct competitor like Manchester City would normally not go down well with fans.

For Alexander-Arnold, the Premier League suitors are evidence of his value and ability to shift power. But a shift to City appears to be off the cards, at least for now, as Liverpool continues to fight for the star player.

To the club’s hierarchy, having security for his future will remain paramount, and if this is not achieved then the incapability of retaining key-players will without doubt spark question marks.

However, for Liverpool, the clock is ticking as the season advances or even progresses where there is no known solution to the reported cases.

If Liverpool continues to wait on him and do not extend his contract, they may soon witness one of the biggest transfer surprises in the premiership era.

But let it start with retaining one of the best defenders in the world at Anfield as he becomes a key figure for the Reds.
