Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou is enduring a challenging second season in North London, with his side securing just one win in their last eight matches across all competitions.

While injuries to key players like Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, and Ben Davies have heavily impacted the squad, the underperformance of some top stars has compounded the team’s struggles.

To address these issues, Tottenham are reportedly gearing up for an active January transfer window. Postecoglou has already held crucial meetings with technical director Johan Lange prioritizing the addition of a top-quality defender to shore up their backline.

Beyond defensive reinforcements, Spurs are also in the market for an exciting and versatile attacker.

According to GIVEMESPORT, Tottenham have identified Lyon star Rayan Cherki as a potential target.

Tottenham Identifies Rayan Cherki As Top Target

The 21-year-old Frenchman has been on Spurs’ radar amid growing uncertainty about his future at Lyon.

Earlier this season, Cherki faced exclusion from the squad due to contract negotiations but ultimately extended his deal by one year.

Since returning to the fold, he has contributed five goals and six assists in 16 matches, showcasing his talent and versatility.

However, financial troubles at Lyon, including rising debts and a provisional relegation to Ligue 2, may force the club to offload Ryan Cherki in January.

This has caught Tottenham’s attention, particularly as they are unlikely to make Timo Werner’s loan move permanent.

Despite a buy-option of £8.5 million, Postecoglou appears to have lost faith in the German forward, who has struggled to impress during his second loan stint from RB Leipzig.

With Son Heung-min entering his end-of-the-career years and Richarlison plagued by injuries, adding Cherki could be a strategic move for Spurs.

His ability to play on both wings and as a No. 10 would bring much-needed creativity, flair, and depth to Tottenham’s attack.

However, with other top European clubs reportedly interested, securing Cherki’s signature in January might prove a challenging task for Postecoglou and his team.
