Paris Saint-Germain have offered €60m plus a player for Luis Diaz from Liverpool. Nevertheless, according to more than one media outlet, Liverpool has categorically dismissed the offer and is ready to offer the Colombian winger a new deal.
Luis Diaz, signed by Liverpool from FC Porto for £50 million three years ago, has been a revelation this season.
The 27-year-old has chipped in 11 goals and 3 assists in 23 matches this season and has emerged as one of the relevant players in Arne Slot’s attacking trident.
Despite this, the Colombian player has continued to deliver impressive performances, adhering to the terms agreed upon when he joined the club, which include a weekly wage of £55,000, lower than most players in his group.
Some recent reports pointed out that agents of Diaz have demanded better conditions in Liverpool but at first were rejected. This, it is said, drew interest from major European teams such as PSG, AC Milan as well as Barca.
Based on the findings of the popular football web so-called Caught Offside, current PSG manager Luis Enrique wants to sign Diaz in replacement of Kylian Mbappe, who moved to Real Madrid last summer.
Liverpool In Talks With Luis Diaz For A New Contract
But Liverpool has stated now, according to Transfers Sky Germany, Florian Plettenberg and transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, that Liverpool has no intention of letting Diaz go.
Negotiations for a new contract were said to have occurred earlier this month December, with the club fully assured of the Colombian’s value to the team. As for his part, Diaz has no intention of leaving Anfield and is happy with the side.
Even though Diaz has his contract until 2027, it goes without saying that Liverpool will be looking to tie their asset down to an even more long-term contract as he is one of the key assets that the team has heading forward.
However, it is understood that other contract renewal negotiations are going on for other major players, such as Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk, so Diaz might have to wait for his turn.
At the moment, Diaz is still a valuable player for Liverpool, and despite PSG’s interest, the rumours were turned down immediately.
