Paul Pogba Shuts Down Manchester City Rumors: No Return To Manchester On The Cards

Ex Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has shunned a return to the Old Trafford camp after recent talks making rounds highlighting his reunion with Manchester City.

The papers said the Premier League champions enquired about the 31-year-old midfielder to sign him when he returns from his more than three-year ban in March. But, insiders of the club and Pogba have been quick to dismiss them.

Pogba is still a free agent now after leaving Juventus last month and the player is keen on searching professional football engagements. However, I have been made aware Manchester City do not have any desire to sign the French World Cup winner.

Especially insiders at the club have stressed that Pogba was never on Guardiola’s radar, he is targeting other players to refresh his team.

Paul Pogba Denies Joining Manchester City

On top of such a transfer defying the odds, Pogba himself said that he has no interest in moving back to Manchester, though as recently as October, during an interview, he claimed he could not go back to Manchester due to issues concerning the experience his family went through during his six years spell with Manchester United.

The midfielder left Juventus in 2014 for a then-record fee of £89 million to join United but had a torrid time there. He was both adored and criticised by the United fans mainly because of intermittent performances until he left in 2022.

While his exit from United, Pogba was reported to be in talks that would see him make a stunning return to the Etihad.

Even when confronted with it during that time, he acknowledged that such a course could be feasibly accomplished; he immediately rejected the notion, pointing to the trials and tribulations his family was experiencing in Manchester.

Now, with Pogba expected back on the pitch in three months, his next move is still unknown. But if there was anyone who thought that this was going to be a contentious transfer to Manchester City then they are very wrong, as the player and the club do not seem to be interested in the idea at all.

In any case, the attention will be on finding another club that would suit the Frenchman’s plans and offer the player with a new opportunity.
