Spurs Starlet Mathys Tel Still Eyeing Manchester United Move Despite January Switch

According to journalist Christian Falk, Mathys Tel continues to express his wish to join Manchester United this summer if he receives a possible transfer opportunity from Tottenham Hotspur.

The 19-year-old French forward Mathys Tel moved to Spurs by persuading manager Ange Postecoglou yet he continues to target an Old Trafford switch after the season ends.

The future of Tel’s transfer lies with the player because Tottenham gives him a €60 million (£50 million) permanent transfer option for the summer.

The clause activation by Spurs would not impede Tel from pursuing other move preferences, such as his previous team, Bayern Munich. Tel remains open to returning to Bayern Munich despite his earlier sale to Tottenham as the Bundesliga club entertained a similar £50 million transfer offer.

Mathys Tel Hopes To Join Manchester United Next Summer

Falk confirmed Mathys Tel expressed willingness to play for United in January though United refused the short-term loan arrangements Bayern Munich presented.

Bayern asked United for a €5 million (£4.2 million) loan charge at first but later settled for a €10 million (£8.3 million) transfer fee when Manchester United purchased his services for Tottenham.

Tel amassed 458 minutes of playing time during the current season as he established 14 appearances while contributing one assist for the German club under the leadership of Vincent Kompany.

During the midseason, he accepted a transfer to the Premier League when Tottenham Hotspur provided him an opportunity in their Carabao Cup semi-final second-leg match against Liverpool.

Tel received recognition for commanding the pitch when he entered the match in the second half although his team suffered a large loss during the game.

The winter transfer window offered Manchester United an opportunity to sign a new striker which ended when they failed to acquire Tel and Randal Kolo Muani before their move to Juventus on loan.

United will probably review their forward position in the summer after making plans to release academy talent which could provide funds for manager Amorim to use in buying new players.
