David Affengruber Transfer News

Manchester United are reportedly keeping tabs on Elche centre-back David Affengruber following his impressive start to the 2025–26 La Liga season.

According to Fichajes, the Austrian has caught the eye of several top clubs, including Atlético Madrid and Sevilla, but United are believed to be leading the race for his signature.

Affengruber, 24, joined Elche from Sturm Graz in August 2024 and has since become a key figure in their defensive setup.

The Austrian has made 50 appearances for the Spanish side, scoring once and providing two assists, while helping them to a strong start this season.

David Affengruber, A rising star in La Liga

Elche’s solid form in the early part of the campaign has been built on defensive stability, with Affengruber at the heart of it.

The Green-striped ones currently sit seventh in La Liga, having collected 13 points from their opening eight matches, losing just once.

Affengruber’s performances have been marked by his composure on the ball, intelligent positioning, and ability to read the game. His transition from Austrian to Spanish football has been seamless, earning him praise from fans and scouts alike.

United’s growing interest

Manchester United are understood to be closely monitoring his progress as they assess potential reinforcements for their back line.

With the futures of some defenders uncertain and ongoing concerns around injuries, the club’s recruitment team is said to view Affengruber as a smart long-term investment.

While Elche will be keen to retain their standout performer, they may find it difficult to resist a significant offer from a club of United’s stature. Financially, a Premier League bid could represent a transformative deal for the Spanish outfit.

International breakthrough on the horizon

Although Affengruber has yet to make his senior debut for Austria, he has represented his country at U19 and U21 levels and is reportedly close to a full international call-up.

His growing reputation in Spain could soon see him join Ralf Rangnick’s senior setup.

For now, his focus remains on maintaining Elche’s strong form — but if he continues on this trajectory, a move to Old Trafford or another European powerhouse may soon become a reality.
