Manchester United are in advanced negotiations to sign 16-year-old Swedish striker Kevin Filling from AIK, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg.
The teenager, valued at around £2 million, is viewed as one of the brightest young prospects in Scandinavia and could move as early as the January transfer window.
Filling began his career at IK Franke before joining Vasteras SK’s academy, later moving to AIK in 2023. His breakout moment came when he scored on his debut in a 3–0 win over IFK Goteborg, though an injury soon after halted his progress.
Now fully fit, he has featured in seven league matches this season, netting twice and attracting strong interest from major European clubs.
United’s youth rebuild continues under INEOS
Manchester United’s recruitment team, led by INEOS, have made academy development a key part of their long-term strategy. Despite interest from Bundesliga sides, United remain determined to bring Filling to Old Trafford.

However, FIFA regulations prevent him from officially joining until he turns 18, meaning he would likely stay at AIK for another two years.
This pursuit fits a broader youth-focused approach. United recently signed 16-year-old goalkeeper Charlie Hardy from Derby County and have reached preliminary agreements for Colombian forward Cristian Orozco and Senegalese talent Mouhamed Dabo. The club also added Chido Obi, Sekou Kone, and Diego Leon earlier this year.
The goal is clear — to rebuild United’s academy with elite young talent capable of stepping into the first team in the coming years. Filling’s combination of pace, technical skill, and clinical finishing makes him a perfect fit for that vision. If the deal goes through, he will join a new generation of players shaping United’s next era of success.
