The transfer agreement between Manchester United and Sporting CP is pointing to the signing of Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres during the upcoming summer window.

The Red Devils have established their strategy to acquire the prolific forward who will join forces with former Sporting manager Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford according to Miguel Delaney for Football Transfers.

Viktor Gyokeres manifested extraordinary offensive skills since transitioning to Portugal football during the 2023 season which established him as an elite goal-scoring presence among European forward players.

During the current season, this 26-year-old forward achieved 41 goal contributions in his 34 appearances across all competitions. Several elite clubs want to acquire the player but Manchester United seems to have closed the deal before anyone else.

Viktor Gyokeres Will Surely Be A Good Addition To Manchester United

The Red Devils experienced frequent goal droughts during their entire season even though they heavily invested in their attacking department.

The club acquired Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Højlund as strikers but they have shown inconsistent performances. United followers worry about their insufficient final third impact, which has caused numerous analysts to discuss possible strengthening moves.

The decision by United not to add attacking players during January surprised supporters while Rashford and Antony left the team.

Many people expected the club to pursue urgent forward transfers right after Rashford’s departure, but financial obstacles alongside long-term vision led them to exercise patience.

United faced resistance from Sporting CP because the club wanted all of the €100 million personal release bonus for Gyökeres before allowing a mid-season transfer but United found this amount too high.

Reports indicate Sporting CP showed a willingness to accept a lower transfer payment of between €60 million and €70 million for Eriksen if the club made a summer signing deal. This led United to secure his arrival this summer.

The appointment of Amorim at Manchester United may pave the way for the club to acquire Viktor Gyokeres who could form the initial piece in their attacking overhaul.

Gyökeres’ arrival represents a potential shift in club direction under Amorim because Manchester United plans to develop a forward unit that produces more opportunities during the 2024-25 season.
