Jean-Clair Todibo Transfer News

The news outlet Givemesport suggests Manchester United may launch an unexpected deal to sign West Ham defender Jean-Clair Todibo when the season ends.

The Red Devils require backup in their defence as the team faces increasing defensive issues because of Lisandro Martínez’s severe Crystal Palace injury.

United faces a pressing need to acquire a reliable defensive replacement because Martínez will miss the rest of this season and the start of the next season.

The interest from United in Todibo has developed over time, but UEFA multi-club ownership regulations prevented potential agreements from being reached.

The ownership of Nice by INEOS prevented United from conducting any transaction with the French club they share until the start of September 2025.

Jean-Clair Todibo: A Young And Vibrant Defender

The club West Ham secured Todibo on loan rights while permanently acquiring his transfer rights. Since joining from Barcelona, the player has managed only 15 Premier League starts because his playing schedule was inconsistent due to injuries and brief substitute appearances.

Erik ten Hag formerly approached Todibo when he was Manchester United manager until UEFA regulations prevented the transfer from taking place. Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has confirmed UEFA blocked the desired deal.

The defender stayed away from Juventus rumours even though some voiced interest before signing with West Ham United as an “exciting addition.”

His English football displays failed to demonstrate the potential he showcased before when playing in the French league division.

There is growing suspicion that West Ham will consider selling the player to suitable bidders now that they must acquire his services for £34 million.

Manchester United could solve their defence problems by once again showing interest in the signing of Todibo.

The choice for this move most likely belongs to head coach Ruben Amorim as Manchester United calculates potential options for central defensive improvements ahead of next season.
