Abdukodir Khusanov Transfer News

Manchester City have completed the signing of 20-year-old Uzbekistan international Abdukodir Khusanov, the first player snapped up during the January transfer window by the Citizens from French club Lens.

The young centre-back who got signed will make his country’s history as the first Premier League player and is to be part of Pep Guardiola after signing.

City did not waste time in sealing up Khusanov’s signature, presumably for €40 million plus incentives. The player will have to agree to the four and a half years of the contract with an opportunity to prolong the contract by a year.

The deal proves that City is trying to strengthen their defence during what has been a difficult season for the team.

Lens had planned to keep Abdukodir Khusanov until the end of the season but had to sell him because of financial problems.

The French side enlisted the help of experienced agent Jorge Mendes for the transfer, while Manchester City took the time to agree on the players’ transfer terms before negotiating directly in Lens.

The news was released by the French journalist Julien Laurens who announced the deal between the clubs later on Friday night.

However, according to ESPN’s Rob Dawson, Khusanov’s representatives are already in Manchester to complete the formalities.

Abdukodir Khusanov Is Due For Medical At Manchester City

There is also a statement that a medical is being scheduled to take place during the weekend, and an announcement could be forthcoming in the next few days.

Khusanov’s arrival is a big step not only for the player but also for Uzbek football, as he became the first player in history to sign a contract with the Premier League team.

Balanced as a player, athletic, and versatile defender, Khusanov has emerged as a notable talent in Ligue 1, and many European clubs have kept an eye on the talented player.

As far as Khusanov is concerned, Guardiola believes the defender will strengthen his options at the back, an area that has been hit by injuries at some point in the season.

As City continues its quest for honours on four fronts, the 20-year-old will be able to come into the team and grow under the tutelage of one of the most decorated managers in the beautiful game of football.
