Manchester City right-back Kyle Walker finalized a loan transfer to AC Milan according to statements released by both teams on Friday.
The right-back has fully transferred to AC Milan during this season but AC Milan holds the opportunity to extend his contract permanently after summer.
The long-standing defender Kyle Walker had not appeared in a City starting lineup since City faced United in a loss on December 15.
The seven-year tenure at Etihad Stadium has drawn to a close for Walker who delivered six Premier League golds and a Champions League victory during his time under Pep Guardiola.
Walker expressed gratitude for his City experience on social media noting his “dream” to join in 2017 from Tottenham Hotspur.
Through his emotional social media message, he thanked his journey while noting victories from his 17 trophies, including the historic 2023 treble wins.
Milan stands at position number eight in Serie A but remains focused on advancing to a top-four position while planning squad improvements.
European Champions League action has brought the Rossoneri success through their current streak of winning five straight matches. Lord Walker’s transfer comes at perfect timing to replace Emerson Royal after the right-back sustained an injury that required him to miss two months of play.
Kyle Walker Is Happy To Join AC Milan
Walker expressed his deep joy about becoming part of this club, stating, “I’m delighted and proud to join a historic team.”
Walker joins his fellow English teammates Fikayo Tomori alongside Tammy Abraham and Ruben Loftus-Cheek at Milan’s San Siro Stadium. Through his fan message, he thanked supporters of his career before declaring his desire to help Milan succeed by ending with “Forza Milan.”
Guardiola’s exit marks a changeover period at Manchester City since the team pursues squad reconstruction as they strive to bridge the gap with Liverpool who lead the Premier League.
Manchester City’s current position in the league has dropped 12 points behind the leaders while the team battles to retain the dominance that secured four straight league championships under Guardiola.
