Khvicha Kvaratskhelia Transfer News

The 26-year-old Georgia winger Kvaratskhelia has completed the transfer to PSG from Napoli, which is unprecedented for the French giants, as no Georgian footballer has ever played for PSG before.

The French champions unveiled him on Friday and part of the agreement means that the 23-year-old will wear the number seven shirt.

Even though PSG refused to reveal the exact transfer fee, daily newspapers in France recommended it to be € 70 million ($72 million) plus bonuses.

It is noteworthy that Kvaratskhelia’s transfer occurred a day after the player privately shared his goodbyes to Napoli fans, and he bravely admitted that Napoli is now time for him to move on in his career.

During the first interview with PSG, Kvaratskhelia said he was glad to become part of the leaders of Ligue 1. Speaking to the media at the Parc des Princes stadium, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia said:

“it’s hard for me but it’s time to say goodbye”.

“It’s an honour to be able to wear the PSG shirt,” he added in an interview with the PSG website on Friday.

“It was a dream for me to play for one of the biggest teams in the world. I’m very proud, it’s a dream and we’re going to fight together to fulfil our dreams. I’m very happy.”

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia Is Now A PSG Player

The winger comes with a strong background; he was the best player in the Serie A last season having won the 2023 Scudetto with Napoli.

Transferred to Napoli from Dinamo Batumi in 2022, Kvaratskhelia was impactful in his time in Italy where he scored 30 goals and had 29 assists in 107 appearances in all competitions.

Signed through 2029, Kvaratskhelia is likely to challenge the French international Bradley Barcola for the position of left winger for Luis Enrique.

Lens fans might get their first look at PSG’s new arrival in action as soon as Saturday, should the team take on a league match against the side.

Nevertheless, Kvaratskhelia will miss PSG’s final Champions League group-stage matches against Manchester City and VfB Stuttgart next week. If PSG is to advance to the knockout stages, Kvaratskhelia will be available for Champions League games in February.

PSG has started the season poorly and is out of contention for qualification spots in the group stage of the Champions League at the moment; they play Manchester City at home next week.

The recruitment of Kvaratskhelia reinforces their title credentials inside and outside the European continent.
