Jordan Henderson Set for Shock Move to AS Monaco After Short-Lived Ajax Stint

Former Reds captain Jordan Henderson faces yet another transfer that became a recent development even though Liverpool’s current lineup seems satisfactory to management.

Forty-eight months after leaving Anfield Henderson stands at the boundary of becoming his third professional club since leaving Liverpool.

Henderson has spent less than two years after leaving Liverpool since his transfer to Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia during the summer of 2022 before his brief stay at Ajax now leads him to a move with AS Monaco.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano states the former Liverpool midfielder, Jordan Henderson has agreed to sign with AS Monaco until June 2026. He will depart Ajax after only a short period due to performing poorly since arriving at the club.

After less than six months of his Saudi Arabian Pro League contract, the termination came due to his inability to adapt to this league. Criticism erupted against Henderson when he joined Al-Ettifaq because of his previous advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights yet he moved into a league that limits such rights.

He stated he had a deep respect for Saudi people and their welcoming behaviour after moving away from the country.

I think a lot of people would like me to criticise the Saudi League, that’s not something I’m going to do. I have a lot of respect for them and those that made me feel welcome. If anyone is offended, I apologise, that was never my intention, Jordan Henderson said

Henderson participated in nine Ajax matches after joining where he managed a total of three victories. Ajax Amsterdam has experienced a season improvement that enabled them to challenge for the Eredivisie title after finishing the previous season in fifth position.

Recent reports indicate that Henderson will not continue his football journey with Ajax because he has decided to start a new chapter at Monaco in Ligue 1.
