It is now appearing that Brighton’s young talent striker Evan Ferguson may be moving out on loan to Fulham this January.
The 20-year-old Irish prospect, widely considered to be one of Brighton’s most promising players, has yet to see much playing time this season, and several top-flight clubs have shown their interest.
The Red Devils Manchester United, have been long-time suitors of Ferguson’s services and some teams are closely watching him.
However, the player has been linked with a major transfer move this season, and he has only featured in two league matches.
This limited game time has led to the speculation surrounding his next move possibly a loan deal with Fulham alleged to be making preparations to come for him.
The Guardian post informs that Fulham are sure they can offer Ferguson as many minutes on the pitch as necessary for further growth.
The club, under manager Marco Silva, is struggling for European qualification, and Ferguson has been described as the missing piece in their attacks.
Fulham have not appeared to find a replacement for their star forward Aleksandr Mitrovic who moved to Saudi Arabia during the transfer window.
And as much as Raul Jimenez and Rodrigo Muniz seem to be vying for the striker’s role, neither has fully cemented their place in the offense and thus, Fulham has a problem.
Brighton, on the other hand, has mostly depended on Danny Welbeck and Joao Pedro, two key players this season under new coach Fabian Hurzeler who has to work with players participating in both Premier League and European competitions.
With Brighton now only four points behind the fourth-place team, more and more people are beginning to wonder whether Ferguson will be able to stick around and play for the club.
Manchester United Has Higher Chances To Sign Evan Ferguson
It was reported in the summer that Manchester United have had an eye on Ferguson and were willing to offer Brighton £50 million for his services. United has not resumed its hunt, but it is now targeting Viktor Gyökeres, the former Sporting Lisbon striker for Ruben Amorin.
For now, they may welcome Fulham’s offer to give Ferguson a reprieve, perhaps the clubs can find common ground to help him back up and benefit everyone.
This will give Ferguson many games to hone in England, while on the other hand, helping Fulham to get a spot in Europe.
