Erling Haaland Commits To Manchester City Until 2034 In Landmark Contract Extension

Manchester City’s Erling Haaland extends his stay at the club until 2034 after signing a new contract.

The 24-year-old striker, signed from Borussia Dortmund in January 2022, has been electric since joining City converting 111 goals in 125 matches alone. Currently considered among the world’s elite forwards, Haaland’s new nine-and-a-half-year deal enshrines his status as part of the Premier League champions’ long-term vision.

In signing a contract extension, Erling Haaland said that he wants to keep on developing himself, as well as help contribute to the success of the team.

“I am happy and I would like to continue improving, continue growing as a player and do all I can to make us more successful in the future,” he stated as said in a club statement.

The contract doesn’t just extend his time beyond the Etihad; however, he does not have the release clauses seen in the preceding contract, which was to end in 2027 as reported by The Athletic. ; it means City will still be in control of the further career of their hot-shot Norwegian striker, who will be 34 when the contract expires.

Former Director of football at City Txiki Begiristain termed the agreement as firm by the club in supporting Haaland and his willingness to be part of the team.

“That he has agreed a long-term contract I think proves our faith in him as a footballer and his passion for this football club,” he said.

Speaking of uncertainty, Manchester City will continue operating under them of 115 alleged breaches of Premier League financial rules. In response to the possible issues that may come in the future, Haaland further committed to the club.

“Now I am City no matter what,” he insistently repeated to those who had lowered their expectations to think that since he had retired his association with City was over.
