Marc Guehi has officially informed Crystal Palace that he will not be signing a new contract, setting up his departure from Selhurst Park next year.
The England international came close to joining Liverpool on deadline day last month, but the deal collapsed at the final moment when Palace decided to keep him.
The decision now appears to have backfired, with Guehi entering the final 12 months of his contract.
Palace missed out on a major transfer fee and now risk losing one of their most valuable assets for free. Manager Oliver Glasner has confirmed that the 25-year-old has made his intentions clear.
Speaking to reporters, Glasner said: “I think Marc has already told us that he doesn’t sign a new contract, so he will leave next year. The club wanted him to stay. They offered him a new deal, but he said, ‘No, I want to make something different’, and that’s normal.”
Palace Face Marc Guehi Tough Decision Ahead of January
Guehi joined Palace from Chelsea in 2021 and has since become one of the Premier League’s most reliable defenders.

He has made 167 appearances for the club and even captained them to FA Cup glory in May. His consistency and leadership have also earned him regular call-ups to the England national team.
With his contract running down, Palace face a dilemma. The club could cash in during the January window or risk losing him on a free transfer next summer. Under FIFA rules, Guehi can begin negotiating a pre-contract with foreign clubs from January 1.
Liverpool, who came close to securing his signature in the summer, could revisit their interest, while other top Premier League sides and European clubs are expected to monitor the situation.
As Palace prepare for life without their defensive leader, Glasner and the club’s hierarchy will now focus on identifying potential replacements to avoid being caught short when Guehi eventually departs.
