Guela Doue Transfer News

Chelsea are reportedly in pole position to sign Strasbourg right-back Guela Doue in the upcoming January 2026 transfer window, though competition from other Premier League sides is expected.

The 23-year-old, who began his career at Rennes before moving to Strasbourg in 2024, has quickly become one of Ligue 1’s standout defenders.

Last season, he made 32 appearances, and this campaign he’s already impressed with one goal and two assists in five matches. His versatility—able to play as a full-back, centre-back, or defensive midfielder—has made him a target for several top clubs.

Chelsea Scouts Impressed as Competition Grows

According to Caught Offside, Chelsea are currently leading the race to sign Doue, ahead of Aston Villa, Brighton, and Brentford, who are all monitoring the player.

On the continent, AC Milan and RB Leipzig are also interested, with both clubs viewing him as a long-term addition.

Chelsea scouts were reportedly present during Strasbourg’s recent match against PSG and came away highly impressed by his composure and defensive awareness.

Strasbourg, however, are under no financial pressure to sell, with Doue’s contract running until 2029. The French side are expected to demand around £26 million for his transfer.

Depth and Future Planning for Maresca

Manager Enzo Maresca already has Reece James and Malo Gusto as right-back options, but injuries and potential future exits could prompt the club to reinforce.

James remains one of the league’s finest full-backs when fit, while Gusto’s links to Bayern Munich in the summer suggest a move could still materialize later.

If Chelsea decide to refresh their defensive depth, Doue’s energy, adaptability, and steady rise in France make him a strong candidate to join Maresca’s project at Stamford Bridge.
