Barcelona’s Dani Olmo Registration Saga: Uncertainty Looms as January Deadline Approaches

It has become a very big issue for Barcelona to register Dani Olmo and the fate of the player at the club is in a big question mark.

Nonetheless, the Catalan team has not been able to find a solution to Olmo’s position ahead of the deadline, and it remains uncertain.

The development has raised issues over whether Olmo was free to activate a release clause in his contract and join another club as a free agent.

However, insiders indicate that the player has no intentions of immediately triggering this option. However, the prolonged indecisiveness has further created uncertainty about his stay at Camp Nou beyond this summer.

The club wanted to bring the issue to a close before the 31st of January, but still, no action has happened.

Will Dani Olmo Leave As An Free Agent?

Despite the continued optimism that Olmo will be registered in time to be a factor in the second half of La Liga, among other related obstacles, there are challenges. The officials of the club have stated that the latest on the situation will be communicated on January 3.

A case in point is the hurdles that Barcelona faced when the club was aggressively pursuing the registration issue.

To generate the required amounts, the club signed a €100 million deal with a Qatari fund using the 20-year rights to run VIP seating at Spotify Camp Nou. However, this agreement has not yet been ratified by La Liga, and its implementation is questionable.

Furthermore, Barcelona has submitted a fresh bid for both Dani Olmo and Pau Victor through the Spanish Football Federation.

Though the above-mentioned steps show the active involvement of the club, any solution is yet to arrive. Speaking to the press, Barcelona dismissed allegations that any authority organization has allowed extensions or exemptions to ease the registration process.

While the next updates are expected on January 3, Olmo’s condition continues to remain undecided.
