Barcelona have been said to be involved in talks with a Premier League club for the signing of Andreas Christensen.
The Danish international began his senior career at Chelsea and played for the club for eight years before moving to Barca for free in July 2022.
Since joining the Catalan giants, Christensen has featured 75 times across all competitions, but he has suffered injuries this season.
The forward who is 28 years, has featured minimally in the current season for the team since he suffered an Achilles injury that only allowed him one appearance.
Now effectively back in training and on the brink of being back in action, securing a regular spot in Hansi Flick’s team might be easier said than done.
Barcelona has had a secure backline with 17-year-old Pau Cubarsi and Inigo Martinez. Moreover, the Denmark-born footballer has to compete for the starting XI, while Ronald Araujo has also returned from his injury.
Nevertheless, according to the Football Leaks, Barcelona may look for a buyer for Christensen in order to stimulate the club’s new signings in the next year, 2025.
Newcastle Is Interested In Andreas Christensen
The player currently under contract at the club until June 2026, has a release clause of €30m (£24.7m). According to latest reports, Newcastle United have begun negotiations with the Spanish club with a view to strengthen their side through their defence.
Newcastle has shown their interest in snapping up Christensen after they failed to sign Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi last summer. The absence of Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles in the long term has set Fabian Schar and Dan Burn as the main defenders, therefore, the club needed reinforcements.
Manchester United have also been linked with him with the Red Devils having been keen on the Danish defender, and they are focused on landing a left back this summer.
Juventus and Inter Milan are also said to be keeping track of his situation in order to open an offer to play in Serie A.
Whether Christensen continues playing for Barcelona or moves back to the English Premier League, his status unknown right now but will be clearer in future windows.
