Hansi Flick Refuses to Rule Out Sensational Neymar Return to Barcelona

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has kept open the door to a potentially shocking Neymar transfer this summer, but fans continue speculating about his European return.

After Barcelona sold Neymar to PSG for £200 million as the most expensive player ever in 2017 he spent an unstable period at Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal for eighteen months.

During his brief spell at Al-Hilal Neymar could only make seven games while scoring one goal before leaving the club in January. Upon his Santos homecoming at age 33, he scored six goals or provided six assists in his initial seven matches for the club.

Neymar currently holds a temporary agreement with Santos that leads many experts to believe he could eventually play in Europe again, especially at Barcelona.

Numerous sources suggest Neymar desires his return to Camp Nou following his dazzling performances in the stadium before his departure. Flick exercised caution in his responses during press conferences leading up to the Champions League match against Benfica because of Wednesday.

He said: “It’s not my job. I said this before. Now I am really focused on this team until the end of the season because we have big opportunities. We want to keep them focused and the coach has to be focused as well. This is not my job, this is a job for [sporting director] Deco and the club, so they will do this.”

Barcelona’s front office has the final power to choose whether they will welcome Neymar back to the club. The Barcelona sporting director, Deco, led the club through the summer window to determine if Neymar could return to European football. Presently the team maintains its sole focus on the active competition.
