The current issues in Barcelona include registration and transfer problems, with an emerging story regarding Eric Garcia.
The former PSG youth product and ex-loanee at Girona is believed to be on the La Blaugrana radar for a possible return in January.
García also benefitted from spending time at Girona by putting up an impressive performance that proved he was ripe for a step up to La Liga.
Nevertheless, Barcelona’s new manager Hansi Flick has denied Eric Garcia many chances in the last few months, thus making Girona optimistic about signing him.
Eric Garcia Will Be Excited To Join Girona
It has been said that Girona is willing to pay up to €10 million for the 22-year-old talent. Of course, that is quite a tempting offer for Barça puzzled by their financial problems at the moment.
Despite the signs coming out of Girona, Flick spoke on the issue during a pre-match briefing on Friday and has insisted that his side does not want to sell García.
His reasoning is clear: The team is already thin, and with Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor out of the lineup, options are scarce. To let Eric Garcia go at this juncture could prove a squad reduction as the team could be exposed, and this comes especially at a time when there are a lot of games to be played.
Moreover, versatility was also highlighted by Flick when he pointed out that an injury or a suspension on the football pitch could again make Garcia a valuable player.
From this point of the January transfer period, the situation comes under a thin line for Barcelona. Selling García could mean a lot of cash in the bank, but keeping him means keeping experienced back-up when it can be most useful.
The coming weeks will decide whether Girona will go for the young defender or remains part of Hansi Flick’s plans for the remainder of the season at Barça.
