Arsenal has started negotiations about Jhon Duran from Aston Villa because they aim to replace both RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak on their wish list.
Arsenal have started negotiations for multiple attacking options after Gabriel Jesus’ season-ending ACL injury according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
As the Monday deadline approaches Arsenal needs to swiftly secure a trustworthy No. 9 position replacement for Jesus’ injury absence. Mikel Arteta has Kai Havertz on his team but the German attacker’s lack of precision finishes harms Arsenal’s chances to win important matches.
Since his Villa side transfer in January 2023, Jhon Duran has shown potential for becoming part of their attacking plan. Sources indicate Villa may consider striker deals when they receive appropriate payment amounts.
Media expert David Ornstein confirmed that Duran shows dissatisfaction regarding minimal field time under Unai Emery because the Spanish coach always chooses Ollie Watkins as his lead striker.
Reports indicate Villa would only accept £80 million for Duran’s transfer but Jamie Carragher suggested a lower value within the £50-60 million range would satisfy the club.
Arsenal holds interest in Duran because they face doubts regarding the conclusion of other acquisition plans. Independent expert Charles Watts confirms Sesko is Arsenal’s top signing priority as the club evaluates his £67 million market value.
RB Leipzig remains unable to reach an agreement in their talks with the player’s representatives over a possible transfer. Eddie Howe considers Newcastle’s forward Alexander Isak vital to his starting lineup which makes signing him challenging.
The Jhon Duran rumour also links Chelsea as a potential target, but Arsenal shows stronger determination to strengthen their attacking positions before the deadline day.
Whether they land the 19-year-old Colombian remains uncertain, although Arteta, together with Arsenal leadership, demonstrate their determination to obtain forward attackers through any means.
