Dominic Calvert-Lewin

The Toffees might be prepared to cash in on Dominic Calvert-Lewin after Arsenal were named as keen suitors for the striker ahead of the upcoming winter transfer window.

The Sun claimed that the Merseyside-based club wants £20 million in exchange for the 27-year-old forward, who could head to North London in the coming season should Arsenal make a move to reinforce their attack.

Calvert-Lewin, once touted among Premier League’s burgeoning talents in the striker’s position, has undergone a series of hardships in recent years that hampered his growth.

A star forward for Everton in the past, he has not had been as active due to injuries; despite his attempts to return to top shape he continues to be inconsistent and inconsistent.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin Struggling Form This Season

So far this season, in 14 Premier League matches, Dominic Calvert-Lewin has scored only two goals and provided only one assist far from what he could achieve before his injury. Even in his current poor form, Calvert-Lewin received attention in the transfer market.

Arsenal’s interest comes at a time where there is so much being said about the future of Gabriel Jesus who has been strongly linked with a move to his former club Palmeiras in Brazil.

If Jesus leaves in January, Arsenal will require the services of other players to ensure they continue the title run, and Calvert Lewin, with his aerial prowess and experience from the Premier League, is a worthy target.

Everton, who have their own issues to deal with both on the field and off it, look willing to cut their losses on Calvert-Lewin even when his contract expires in just seven months.

A January transfer could help to obtain a fee for the player because if they don’t they could lose him for nothing in the summer. For Arsenal, as we have seen the reported £20 million asking price may well be worth the risk, particularly, with the current overemphasis on the quality home-grown talent in the league.

The next few weeks will determine if Arsenal are ready to meet Everton’s asking price for Calvert-Lewin. The following are the benefits of the deal: It might give the striker new lease of life at a top side, and also help Everton to get a windfall to strengthen other segments of the squad.

In either case the possibility of a switch represents a turning point in Calvert-Lewin’s development and the future of both clubs.
