According to reports from Fichajes, United remain firm admirers of the England international after failing to secure him on loan last summer. Atletico were unwilling to negotiate at the time, but United now intend to make a “clear push” for a permanent deal.

Gallagher has impressed in Spain since joining Atletico from Chelsea, adapting quickly to Diego Simeone’s demanding system.
