Barcelona are reportedly stepping up their efforts to find a long-term successor to Robert Lewandowski, and 22-year-old Levante striker Etta Eyong has emerged as a leading candidate.
The Cameroonian forward has been one of the revelations of the La Liga season, drawing attention for his blistering pace, physicality, and sharp finishing.
Eyong joined Levante from Villarreal for just €3.8 million last summer, a deal now viewed as one of the bargains of the year. Barcelona had already been tracking him before that move, but financial restrictions prevented them from acting.
Levante seized the opportunity, and their decision has paid off handsomely, with Eyong now valued at around €20 million.
Barcelona’s Long-Term Planning
With Lewandowski turning 37, Barcelona are planning ahead. The Polish striker remains crucial, but the club knows it must secure his successor soon.

Eyong fits the profile perfectly — young, dynamic, and adaptable to the team’s attacking structure. Reports from Spain claim that Barca scouts have maintained regular contact with his representatives since his Villarreal days, viewing him as an ideal addition for the next phase of their rebuild.
Manchester City Join the Chase for Etta Eyong
Manchester City have also entered the race, with Pep Guardiola personally intrigued by Eyong’s potential.
His pace, balance, and composure in front of goal would make him a natural fit for the Premier League. Sources suggest City could make a significant offer if the striker maintains his current form through the season.
Levante’s position, however, is strong. Their agreement with Villarreal includes a sell-on clause and a right of first refusal for Villarreal, meaning both clubs stand to gain financially from any future transfer. If an offer exceeding €15 million arrives, Levante would be obliged to negotiate.
For now, Levante are reaping the benefits of their smart investment, with Eyong already their standout performer. His rise has been rapid, and with both Barcelona and Manchester City closely monitoring his progress, a major transfer could be on the horizon.
