Murillo Transfer News

Bayern Munich are once again making moves in the transfer market, and this time their attention has turned to Nottingham Forest’s highly rated centre-back Murillo.

Reports from Germany suggest the Bavarian giants have placed the 23-year-old Brazilian on their shortlist as they look to strengthen their defence.

According to BILD, Bayern view Murillo as a serious target following his impressive performances in the Premier League.

The defender joined Forest from Corinthians São Paulo in 2023 for around €12 million and has since become one of the club’s most reliable performers. His rise in England has not gone unnoticed by Europe’s elite.

High Price and High Interest for Murillo

BILD’s deputy head of football, Tobias Altschäffl, offered insight into the scale of any potential deal.

“He has a market value of €55 million. So, a really expensive player. He’s a name that’s interesting for Bayern. But it would cost money, and first they would have to sell players or not be able to extend their contracts.”

That assessment underlines Bayern’s current financial balancing act, with the club likely needing to offload a defender or two before they can proceed.

Their interest in Murillo comes amid uncertainty over the futures of several senior players in the backline.

Adding to the intrigue, BILD’s Christian Falk revealed that Bayern are not alone in their admiration.

“Exciting player, a bit under the weather at the moment. Real Madrid already tried to sign him once when Éder Militão was injured. And they immediately extended Murillo’s contract. That was in January; he has a new contract until 2029 with no release clause. So, as you say, it won’t be cheap. And Chelsea are also said to have him on their list.”

Why Murillo Appeals

Murillo’s qualities make him an ideal fit for a side like Bayern. Calm in possession and confident under pressure, he has already made 80 appearances for Forest in all competitions, scoring twice and proving a steady presence at the heart of their defence.

His ability to carry the ball out from the back has even drawn comparisons to Marquinhos during his early years at Paris Saint-Germain.

A Bundesliga source told BILD that Bayern are seeking a defender capable of progressing play from deep without fear.

“Bayern want a defender who can progress the ball without fear. Murillo ticks that box,” the source said, hinting at why the club’s recruitment team is pushing to explore the deal further.

Forest’s Strong Position

For Nottingham Forest, there is no urgency to cash in on their prized asset. The club are financially stable and aware of the growing interest from across Europe.

As one Premier League insider put it, “Forest will only do business at Premier League prices, not Bundesliga discounts.”

With a contract running until 2029 and no release clause in place, Forest hold all the negotiating power. That means Bayern, Real Madrid, and Chelsea will have to dig deep if they hope to tempt Murillo away from the City Ground.

For now, the Brazilian remains a central figure in Forest’s plans, but the coming transfer windows could test their resolve — especially if Bayern decide to make their interest concrete.
