Ronald Araújo Transfer News

Barcelona are reportedly open to selling centre-back Ronald Araújo in the upcoming January transfer window, according to reports from Spain.

The Uruguayan defender’s future at Camp Nou appears increasingly uncertain after a string of inconsistent performances that have left club officials questioning his long-term role in Hansi Flick’s setup.

Flick Loses Faith After Sevilla Display

Araújo endured a difficult outing during Barcelona’s recent La Liga clash with Sevilla, where he conceded a soft penalty in the first half.

Manager Hansi Flick reacted decisively by substituting him at half-time — a move seen by many as a reflection of the German coach’s growing doubts about the player’s reliability.

The 26-year-old has long been regarded as one of Barcelona’s most talented defenders, known for his pace, aggression, and aerial dominance.

However, his performances have fluctuated sharply in recent months, with moments of brilliance too often followed by costly lapses in concentration.

Club Sets €40 Million Price Tag

According to Fichajes, Barcelona’s hierarchy has already begun preparing a strategy to sell Araújo once the winter market opens.

The club has reportedly set an initial asking price of around €40 million, believing that a sale could help balance their books and free up space for reinforcements.

“The Blaugrana board believes his current performance does not justify keeping him in the squad if an immediate profit can be achieved,” the report claims.

Given Barcelona’s ongoing financial constraints, the potential sale of Araújo could be seen as both a sporting and economic decision.

Interest Expected Across Europe

Araújo remains a respected name across Europe, and interest in his signature is expected to be strong if Barcelona officially place him on the market.

Clubs from the Premier League and Serie A, including Manchester United and Juventus, have previously been linked with the Uruguayan defender and could be tempted to revisit their interest in January.

A Pivotal Moment for Ronald Araújo

For Araújo, the next few months could define his career trajectory. Once viewed as a cornerstone of Barcelona’s defence, he now faces the prospect of a mid-season exit from the club he joined in 2018.

Should he depart, the move would mark the end of an era for a player once seen as Gerard Piqué’s natural successor — and underline just how ruthless the new regime under Hansi Flick and Joan Laporta has become in reshaping Barcelona’s future.
