Manchester United, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly made contact with Barcelona over a possible January move for goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, according to reports from SPORT relayed by Sport Witness.
The three English clubs have reached out to the Catalan giants to explore a deal, while Ligue 1 side AS Monaco have also reignited their interest in the German international.
Marc-Andre ter Stegen Uncertain Future at Barcelona
Since joining Barcelona from Borussia Mönchengladbach over a decade ago for €12 million, ter Stegen has had a career defined by both brilliance and inconsistency.
The 33-year-old has delivered world-class performances at times, yet his error-prone moments have made him a divisive figure among Barcelona fans.
Now club captain, ter Stegen has made more than 400 appearances for the Blaugrana, keeping 175 clean sheets while conceding 416 goals.

Despite his leadership role, his future remains uncertain following the emergence of Joan Garcia, with the Catalan side reportedly open to offers for their veteran keeper.
Premier League Clubs Monitoring Situation
Manchester United’s interest stems from their ongoing goalkeeping issues, as Andre Onana’s form continues to draw scrutiny.
However, signing ter Stegen at this stage of his career would represent a short-term fix rather than a long-term solution for the Red Devils.
Newcastle United’s involvement comes as a surprise, considering they recently brought in Aaron Ramsdale on loan from Southampton.
It remains unclear how ter Stegen would fit into Eddie Howe’s plans given Nick Pope’s expected return from injury later in the season.
Tottenham Hotspur, meanwhile, appear well-stocked in goal with Guglielmo Vicario performing impressively since arriving from Empoli.
The club also have Antonin Kinsky as backup, making a move for ter Stegen unnecessary — yet the North London side have nonetheless reached out to gauge Barcelona’s stance.
AS Monaco Also Interested
Beyond the Premier League, AS Monaco have revived their pursuit of ter Stegen after failing to land him during the summer window.
The French club are believed to be monitoring the situation closely and could step in should Barcelona decide to part ways with their captain in January.
With Barcelona open to negotiations and ter Stegen’s long-term position uncertain, the coming weeks could determine whether one of Europe’s most experienced goalkeepers embarks on a new chapter — potentially in the Premier League.
