Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly set to go head-to-head in the race to sign Real Madrid attacking midfielder Arda Güler.
The 20-year-old has made a strong impression in Spain, and his early-season form has alerted several Premier League sides, according to reports from Fichajes.
Güler enjoyed a breakthrough campaign last year, producing eight goal contributions in La Liga.
Under new head coach Xabi Alonso, he has carried that momentum into the current season, registering three goals and three assists in his first seven appearances.
That consistency has quickly earned him a regular place in the Madrid starting lineup and the attention of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Arsenal and Spurs weigh their options
The report claims Arsenal have already held exploratory talks with both Madrid officials and Güler’s representatives to assess the conditions of a potential deal.
For the Gunners, his creativity and ability to unlock defences align with Mikel Arteta’s long-term vision for a more fluid and dynamic attack.
Tottenham, meanwhile, are also said to be closely monitoring the Turkish international. Ange Postecoglou is understood to see Güler as a player who could elevate his side’s attacking third, especially in terms of exploiting space and providing end product from midfield.
However, the North London rivals are not alone in their pursuit. Newcastle United have also been linked with a move, with Eddie Howe reportedly keen to add more creativity and technical balance to his midfield.
Madrid’s stance and Arda Güler valuation
Real Madrid are in a strong position to dictate terms. Güler’s contract at the Santiago Bernabéu runs until 2028, and the Spanish giants have already placed a steep valuation on his head.
Reports suggest Madrid would only consider bids in the region of £131 million, a figure that immediately complicates any approach from England.
Former Madrid manager José Mourinho once described Güler as a player with “exceptional qualities,” and his reputation continues to grow.
Comfortable as a central attacking midfielder or operating from wide areas, he combines vision, sharp passing, and ball recovery with a growing goal threat.
His versatility and maturity at such a young age underline why Madrid view him as a cornerstone for the future.
A rising star with major honours already
Despite being only 20, Güler already boasts an impressive trophy cabinet. He played a part in Madrid’s La Liga title triumph, their Spanish Super Cup victory, and their Champions League success.
These achievements, coupled with his individual progress, make him one of the most highly regarded young midfielders in Europe.
For Arsenal and Tottenham, the question is not only whether they can afford him but also whether Madrid are willing to sanction his exit.
Unless a compromise can be reached—such as a structured deal, loan arrangement, or player exchange—the Premier League suitors may be forced to consider alternative targets.
As things stand, Güler’s future remains firmly tied to Madrid, but the growing Premier League interest ensures his name will feature prominently in next year’s transfer headlines.
