Jorthy Mokio Transfer News

Liverpool are among a host of Premier League giants monitoring the progress of Ajax teenager Jorthy Mokio, who has already been compared to N’Golo Kante.

Kante became one of the most influential midfielders of his generation during his time at Leicester City and Chelsea, and now Mokio is being tipped as a possible heir to his throne.

At just 17, the Belgian prospect has already racked up over 20 first-team appearances for Ajax since making his breakthrough in the 2024–25 season.

Jorthy Mokio attracting heavyweight interest

Reports claim Chelsea have scouted the youngster extensively, while Manchester United, Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham are also keeping tabs on him.

Mokio, who can play both as a holding midfielder and a centre-back, reportedly rejected Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the past to join Ajax — a club with a rich reputation for developing elite talents.

Born in Ghent, Mokio began his career at Belgian side Gent before moving to Ajax, where he has quickly established himself as one of Europe’s brightest teenagers.

He made his senior debut for Belgium earlier this year in a Nations League clash against Ukraine, underlining just how highly he is rated at international level.

Liverpool and City also eye Michael Olise

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s transfer radar also extends to Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise.

With Mohamed Salah’s contract running until 2027 — when the Egyptian will be 35 — the Reds are already exploring long-term replacements.

However, they face stiff competition from Manchester City, who are reportedly monitoring the Frenchman’s situation closely.

According to German journalist Christian Falk, Bayern are weighing up whether to offer Olise an improved deal to ward off Premier League interest.

Falk noted that Bayern risk a scenario similar to Jamal Musiala’s contract standoff if they delay negotiations.

“If you see such quality as Olise possesses, you have to do it much earlier, otherwise, the Premier League will be quick to swoop,” Falk explained.

Olise’s current deal runs until 2029, but Bayern’s desire to reduce overall wages in the squad could complicate matters, despite his impressive performances since joining from Crystal Palace.

The bigger picture

For Liverpool, the dual links to Mokio and Olise underline the club’s long-term strategy.

Both players are young, versatile and highly technical — exactly the type of profile that would ensure a seamless transition when current stalwarts like Salah eventually move on.

The competition, however, will be fierce. With half of Europe watching Mokio and Premier League rivals circling for Olise, Liverpool may have to move decisively if they want to secure either target.
