Arsenal have made their stance clear over Leandro Trossard future, with reports confirming that the Belgian will not be leaving for Turkey despite late interest from Besiktas.
Besiktas’ £19m Offer for Leandro Trossard Rejected
The Turkish Super Lig side had been hoping to exploit their extended transfer window, which remains open until September 12, by tabling a £19 million bid for the 30-year-old forward.
However, Fabrizio Romano reports that Arsenal have no plans to sell, stressing there is “no chance” Trossard joins a Turkish club this month.
Competition for Places
Trossard has been a consistent squad option since arriving from Brighton in January 2023, making 28 league starts last season and registering eight goals and eight assists.
This term, however, he has found game time harder to come by. He has only managed 37 minutes so far, coming off the bench against Leeds while remaining unused in matches against Manchester United and Liverpool.
The competition has intensified with Gabriel Martinelli holding down the left-wing slot, while summer signings Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze, along with emerging talent Max Dowman, have added more attacking depth.
Arsenal’s Faith in Trossard
Despite his limited involvement early on, Arsenal remain committed to keeping Trossard as part of Mikel Arteta’s plans.
The forward signed an improved contract in August, securing a pay rise without altering the length of his existing deal. Arteta himself praised the resolution of that situation, saying:
“That situation has been resolved in a really great way and I think he deserves recognition, and we are very happy to have him.”
What It Means Going Forward
For Besiktas, the rejection means they must look elsewhere before the Turkish deadline closes. For Arsenal, Trossard’s retention underlines the need for squad depth as they compete across multiple fronts this season.
While his minutes may be limited for now, his versatility across the front line ensures he remains a valuable option in Arteta’s rotation.
