Manchester United Set to Seal £40M Deal for Danish Sensation Patrick Dorgu

Manchester United President Joel Glazer is pursuing the transfer of talented Lecce left-back Patrick Dorgu as Ruben Amorim prepares to lead the team.

Following weeks of failed negotiations between the Red Devils and Lecce, together with the player, the clubs reached an agreement which opened a path for January’s transfer move.

Sources in Italy report that United will distrib, ute £40 million (€47.5 million) to the tween employee salary payments and signing fees to secure Dorgu at Old Trafford.

Corriere del Mezzogiorno reports that Lecce consented to an arrangement worth €37.5 million that combines a base payment of €30 million and €7.5 million in possible performance-based bonuses. Manchester United managed to sign the 20-year-old despite enticing offers from Serie A front-runners Napoli.

With four senior caps for Denmark under his belt, the versatile Patrick Dorgu demonstrates the ability to play as an all-around defender while excelling at left-back or right-back positions and enjoying success in more offensive wide roles.

Dorgu shows his best football when operating on the left side of the pitch although Amorim plans to use him in his 3-4-2-1 formation as a wing-back position.

Defensive injuries continually cause problems for Manchester United because both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia frequently need medical attention.

By signing Dorgu to play left-back United may solve their long-term defensive problems while benefiting from positional stability at that critical position.

The contract Dorgu signed with United stretches across five years, according to Solo Lecce, and provides him with estimated total payments amounting to €10 million.
