Neymar left Al-Hilal Adventure after 18 months of troubled playing time because both parties agreed to end his contract, according to the Saudi club’s announcement on Monday.
The club statement thanked Neymar for his service while at Al-Hilal and then expressed its best wishes for his forthcoming achievements.
The winger signed with Al-Hilal in August 2023 through a landmark contract worth a yearly salary of $104 million. Seven games represented all that Neymar played for the club due to injuries during his 32-year-old season.
Early on in his Saudi Arabia career, Neymar endured multiple setbacks, including a Brazil national team injury to his cruciate ligament that left him without play for 12 months.
The Brazilian player returned to contend late in 2024 but doctors quickly forced him out of action because of a hamstring injury.
Between peak moments and technical obstacles Neymar has navigated a complex professional path. The forward status remains as Brazil’s all-time leading scorer of 79 goals after appearing in 127 matches when he originally earned the heritage as Pelé’s successor.
What Next For Neymar Jr?
His previous success for Santos where he scored 107 goals during 177 matches led Neymar to join Barcelona in 2013 where he played alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez in an all-time legendary offensive group.
The three-way attacking combination of Messi Suárez and Neymar brought Barcelona a 2015 Champions League title because they defeated Juventus 3-1 in the final match.
Neymar made sports news in 2017 when he moved to Paris Saint-Germain through a record-breaking transfer worth €220 million.
He used his time at PSG to bring in five Ligue 1 championships and reach the Champions League final of 2020 but ultimately failed to win the European title.
His experience in Paris worsened due to repeated injuries and multiple off-field scandals which forces his departure from the team in 2023.
Neymar has his focus on playing for Brazil during the 2026 World Cup as he considers returning to his original club roots. Media outlets indicate a deal may exist for his return to his original Brazilian football club Santos.
The potential Santos return represents a possibility that might represent the definitive end to the career of one of world football’s most promising names.
