While the January transfer window’s closing date is still some days away, February 3rd, there can be many developments in the Catalan club and one of them can be the shift of Eric Garcia.
The versatile Spaniard has been fighting for playing minutes under Hansi Flick and with Barça eager to clear the space for making a move for Marcus Rashford, Garcia is becoming more and more a potentially likely prospect.
Girona have expressed a lot of interest in re-signing Garcia especially after the player had a fruitful season on loan at Girona last season.
Eric Garcia was instrumental in Girona’s remarkable last season’s campaign and now, the club is keen to sign the 24-year-old permanently.
However, there are always some twists between agreeing to their deals and signing, especially that which has to do with monetary issues between the two clubs.
As reported by Mundo Deportivo, the issue of economic disparity between Barcelona and Girona remains a barrier to the signing of a deal.
Quique Carcel, the sporting director of the Girona has come out to affirm the interest of the team in the player and declared that Girona will come again with a new bid for the defender. Nevertheless, the problem is that Barcelona demands too much from their client.
Barcelona Rejects €10 Million From Girona For Eric Garcia
There have been reports that Girona has offered €10m for Garcia, but Barcelona is insisting on a higher bid. Including Flick, who does not have much confidence about the release of the player mid-season, would definitely complicate the matter further.
Girona did implement financial obstacles to recapture Garcia, but at the same time, they understood the sign of great difficulty for any of the clubs to convince the other to make a deal for the player.
At the same time, the chances of getting the player might face other challenges since Real Sociedad has joined the bid. The club is also keen on signing Garcia independently of Girona even though it may increase Girona’s struggle and cost more.
Whether Garcia stays to continue containing his place at Barcelona or goes to Girona, only time will tell but the rising attention around more than one place means that a fascinating development could follow before the transfer deadline.
