Yoane Wissa Transfer News

Arsenal have placed their sights on Brentford attacker Yoane Wissa as the January transfer window approaches because of increasing injury concerns in the Gunners’ forward line, according to the Athletic.

Arsenal has been ravaged by injuries to some of their frontline players in the last few weeks, and their attacking force has been weakened.

Bukayo Saka is out of action for several months, while striker Gabriel Jesus will miss at least nine months because of a knee injury.

There are ongoing injuries; Raheem Sterling was affected, but he has since been back on the field, while the young and promising Ethan Nwaneri had what might be described as a muscular injury but is expected back soon from the setback.

The team that has displayed the most attacking football in the Premier League this season has also shown significant weaknesses in their attack.

Will Yoane Wissa Fit In Arsenal’s Style?

This was evident even after Arsenal scored two goals in their recent victory over Tottenham in the North London Derby. Following this match, Arteta made comments about the possibility of strengthening the team during the winter transfer window.

Other stars that have been rumoured to be currently pursuing the club include Benjamin Sesko, Alexander Isak, Viktor Gyokeres, and Dusan Vlahovic though the Telegraph says that Wissa is the new promising talent.

However, Arsenal’s potential competition might be Nottingham Forest, as their manager, Nuno Espirito Santo, might want Wissa to capture the gap if Taiwo Awoniyi profits from West Ham.

West Ham is keen on Awoniyi because the team has its problems upfront; Chris Wood has lost his scoring touch, and they are without Niclas Fullkrug due to an injury.

If Awoniyi leaves, Forest may step up their interest in Wissa, and Arsenal may need to move quickly if they want to sign the Brentford man.

Brentford manager Thomas Frank has previously come out strongly against the sale of winger Bryan Mbeumo, and as such, a similar attitude could be expected about Wissa.

But Wissa has played in the Premier League before, and currently, he is playing very well; he scored 12 goals this season and has a good conversion rate.

The course of action in the next couple of weeks could determine the direction Arsenal will be following in the beginning of what is going to be an important transfer period for the team.
