In recent news, FC Barcelona’s defender, Ronald Araujo, has been trending in the last few days because Juventus, which seeks to sign him, has begun considering the option of a loan with an obligation to buy.
However after a crucial sit down with Barcelona’s Sporting Director Deco the presence of the Uruguayan center back was persuaded to stay put in Catalonia.
This has now transformed Barcelona’s transfer strategy of having plentiful central defenders in Hansi Flick’s squad.
For more detail by SPORT, Barcelona is willing to let go of Eric Garcia and Andreas Christensen for a possible transfer. The club is not actively looking for anyone to leave, but both central defenders’ exit would create much-needed salary space that can be utilized to bolster the team’s attacking options by the end of the month.
Juventus has been heavily linked with Araujo but it was always going to be a long shot for the Italian side because the money was never there.
Barcelona Intend To Sell Either Of Christensen Or Garcia For Ronald Araujo To Stay
Barcelona rejected their loan proposal and the latter did not give in. At the same time, the presence of a large number of centre-backs in the team may force the club to look for a new line, which is interesting, Garcia or Christensen, in demand from other clubs.
Centre-back Eric Garcia is rumoured to be interested in Girona, a club that made their intentions towards the Spanish youngster known. While on the other hand, Christensen has gained attention from the Premier League.
There are recent reports that Manchester United have been linked with the defender, but there is yet no bid from the Danish side as of the time this write-up was prepared.
Barcelona is also seeking to kick out a midfielder as a means of generating more balance sheet room. Frenkie de Jong has been identified as the player most likely to be sold, if a good deal presents itself then there will be a sale.
There is uncertainty in the Catalan side’s squad even as the winter transfer window closes with only 15 days left. To some extent, Araujo’s willingness to remain helps bring stability at the back; possible departures for other players may create further avenues for additions as the Blaugrana continue to sculpt their squad.
