Diogo Dalot Transfer News

Manchester United brought out a spirited fight against Arsenal to scrape through 5-3 on penalties after they were reduced to 10 men for over an hour.

In the last matches of round 16 at the Emirates, the score was 1- 1 after extra time, with goals from both sides in the second half.

United got off the mark in the game when Alejandro Garnacho did a fabulous dance on the left flank before releasing the ball to Bruno Fernandes, and the United midfielder gave it some muscle and a powerful shot that went over David Raya.

However, the lead was short-lived when Diogo Dalot pulled a terrible tackle that earned him his second yellow card, reducing United to ten men. Arsenal responded only a few minutes later after taking advantage of a more brilliant interchange, with Havertz being awarded a dubious penalty.

It was a momentous win for Altay Bayindir, who saved Havertz’s penalty and made a further crucial intervention that kept United on the pitch. In the penalty shootout, the Red Devils remained calm and earned a historic win and the right to move to the next stage.

Kieran Trippier starred, and Harry Maguire also impressed as well, though Dalot had one of his worst nights for United.

Unable to fit in the left side of the United defence whenever Luke Shaw was not the centre of the play, the Portuguese international acts continuously committed defensive errors and attacked deplorably, a sign of balance United never seemed to have.

Manager Ruben Amorim repositioned Dalot back to his preferred right-back position though the switch brought little change before he was substituted.

The problems at Old Trafford have further been compounded by inconsistent performances by Dalot in Shaw’s absence, with Tyrell Malacia also apparently on the way out.

The board of directors of INEOS has complained that Amorim has not been happy with the lack of support for the club since FSR hampers transfers.

As it befits for Diogo Dalot, he has been linked with Real Madrid who are said to have bid £45m for the defender.

However, Amorim still bites his tongue to avoid the separation of his compatriot, who he sees as a fundamental player once the team regains the formation.

United is now preparing for Southampton in the premier league again without Dalot due to suspension increasing more problems in defence a year that has been full of tests both on and off the field.
