Aaron Ramsdale could be on the move again, Newcastle United is considering the Southampton goalkeeper for a mid-season transfer.
This move could be what can be regarded as his second transfer within a year after Southampton bought him for £25 million from Arsenal last summer.
It has been nothing but unpleasant for Southampton; the club has remained at the root of the English Premier League and has managed only one victory in the season.
Needless to say, Ramsdale has been one of the few shining examples on the field since the team is not performing all that brightly at the moment.
But even then, Southampton has still managed to concede 44 goals in the season, and Ramsdale has had to endure 27 of those. His campaign has also been disrupted by an injury to his finger, which has seen him sit out six matches.
Aaron Ramsdale Is Being Monitored By Newcastle
Ramsdale’s recent performances, especially his outstanding goalkeeping, have impressed everyone! His skills could be just what Southampton needs in their battle to stay in the Premier League.
According to The Sun, Newcastle United has set their sights on him as their top choice. Initially, they were interested in Burnley’s James Trafford, but now that he’s chosen to move on, the Magpies have turned their attention to Ramsdale. Exciting times ahead!
A move for Ramsdale could be on the cards for Eddie Howe’s side in the upcoming January transfer window. Newcastle are again without their big summer signing, Nick Pope, due to injuries, and they need a new specialist in the goalkeeper position.
Howe is said to have a particular interest in Ramsdale as the new number one choice, thereby replacing Pope while Pope’s deputy Martin Dubravka is likely to move to Saudi Arabia once a shot-stopper has been signed.
Ramsdale, a promising goalkeeper, may be looking to revive his career at Newcastle following an inconsistent period at Arsenal. Although he previously won the Premier League Golden Glove award, he has since been replaced by David Raya.
Ramsdale has clearly stated that his primary focus when making any future transfer decisions will be on securing regular playing time.
