Nico Williams Transfer News

As Arsenal may need to strengthen its attack with Nico Williams the club might just lose out again as Bayern Munich is said to be eyeing the Athletic Bilbao winger.

The Gunners are currently experiencing a major problem with a serious injury, which is Bukayo Saka, an important member of the team; the team, therefore, requires reinforcements if they are to maintain their title hunt.

Saka was forced off in the first half of the recent Arsenal match against Crystal Palace after a hamstring issue.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has revealed that the star winger will be out for a long time, a big blow for a team that is seven points adrift of Liverpool, who has played a game less than the London giants.

Bayern Munich Enters Into Talks For Nico Williams

While Arsenal tries to find remedies, it seems the German newspaper Bild claims that Bayern Munich has identified Nico Williams as its transfer target for the summer.

The Spanish international turned out to be one of the best performers in the season for the Spanish side Athletic Bilbao and is also the Euro 2024 champion for the Spain national side.

Nico Williams has been on the radar of some of the big European clubs, including Barcelona for quite some time now. But Bayern’s entry into the talks could add another layer of difficulty in Arsenal’s chase.

Williams is especially a direct attacking player, who always gives pace and has the natural tendency to beat defenders.

Last season, the 22-year-old played a significant role in the success of Athletic Bilbao; the team finished the league in the 5th position in La Liga and Copa del Rey, which was the first time in four decades.

He scored eight goals and created 16 assists during the 37 encounters in all the competitions.

This season, Nico Williams has not been effective; in 23 matches he has played, he has only scored two goals and five assists.

Nevertheless, it is a common situation with young players and the talent is quite obvious. According to the newspaper, the £47 million release clause of Williams makes the prospect lucrative for teams in search of a powerful performer at an affordable fee.

And while Arsenal needs attacking reinforcements perhaps more than ever, Bayern Munich’s interest in the player in question can pose a threat to Arteta.

Considering that the summer transfer window is still six months away, the battle for Nico Williams gets even more interesting, and Arsenal must move quickly to sign the young talent.
