Manchester United will now activate a £62 million release clause of Victor Osimhen as they rival Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain for his signature, says Fichajes.
Currently, the Red Devils are searching for the highest-possible calibre of forward to develop Ruben Amorim’s assault for the future year and beyond, with Osimhen in mind.
Osimhen, now playing for Galatasaray on a loan base, has been a revelation this season, having scored 12 goals and also made 5 assists in the space of 15 appearances.
The player signed for the Turkish side on an initial loan deal with an option for the player to take a mid-season break and depart from Napoli completely in January.
Osimhen was benched by Antonio Conte in Napoli and barred from preseason training, so in the summer of 2024, he joined Galatasaray on loan.
Napoli, on the other hand, signed Romelu Lukaku, and this showed that they are ready to let go of the Nigerian forward. The Italian Serie A club is keen on making a profit out of his sale, according to the otherwise reputable source.
Chelsea, Manchester United and PSG Battle For Victor Osimhen
There are also Chelsea and PSG interested in Osimhen, which means that we are set for an intense transfer tussle between three European giants. The striker could be on the move in the next few days as the January window is around the corner.
The signings Manchester United made this season may be dependent on what they do with other players they may be looking to off-load.
The club is in the market for a new left-sided defender, but there is the possibility of signing a forward if the right candidate is identified.
This may sound near impossible but a potential sale of Marcus Rashford could be key to funding these signings.
Rashford has recently suggested he wants a new experience breaking away from Old Trafford United and has set his value at £40 million. However, his wage demands may pose a problem to potential suitors playing in that position.
January transfer window may be decisive for Manchester United as they aim to strengthen the team but face some threats from other teams. Signing Osimhen would be a big boost for the team, but the race for the young striker is tight and anyone’s guess at the moment.
