According to several reports, Barcelona is linked with a January move for Randal Kolo Muani, a 26-year-old French international playing for Paris Saint-Germain.
Catalan-based outlet Fichajes reports that the club is on the lookout for a new player in the attack line; the only issue is that PSG will expect a huge amount for the striker.
Kolo Muani has recently joined PSG but this experience has not been very good for his team. After impressing everyone at Eintracht Frankfurt in his first season which saw him become one of the most wanted forwards in Europe, his time at PSG has not been what he expected.
Staring at the bench for form and games, the Frenchman has featured in only 453 minutes for the club in the current campaign where he has only two goals and one assist in 14 appearances.
Nonetheless, his market value is significant; currently, Arsenal and Manchester City are said to be willing to sign him.
Do Barcelona Need Randal Kolo Muani?
When Barcelona expressed interest in Kolo Muani it was rather surprising due to their forwards list in the current season.
It has been great to see Robert Lewandowski score goals again; he is impressive. Raphinha and Lamine Yamal look promising, too. With the attacking line-up fully operational, it remains questionable whether Barcelona needs another forward, bearing in mind the financial situation at the club.
The club’s interest could indicate their desire to expand in the future. Kolo Muani may be on their radar next summer if the Catalan side can secure the necessary resources for the transfer.
As for PSG, they are said to be open only for a permanent deal, and Kolo Muani is not likely to be approved to join a new side just on a loan deal, which makes the talks complicated.
Whatever happens next for Randal Kolo Muani, a move to the Spanish league could just be what he wants when he needs a change of scenery to regain his previous status as one of Europe’s most potential attacking talents.
Whether Barcelona can afford such a transfer while they are in their difficult financial situation is still a question mark. However, the French international may indeed strengthen the team if he joins Barça.
