Florian Wirtz Transfer News

Manchester City will still try to secure the signing of Florian Wirtz next summer, even if there are rumours linking the young talented German playmaker to a new deal with Bayer Leverkusen.

In the season that Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola’s side has been particularly playing woefully, the interest in Wirtz could mark the beginning of a very aggressive restructuring.

Guardiola must be feeling the heat with the Manchester City team being a shadow of the side that dominated English football some months ago, having won only 1 in the last 11 games and that too against Nottingham Forest.

They have been compounded by embarrassing defeats that some suffered, as giving up a 3-0 lead to draw 3-3 against Feyenoord in the Champions League and losing by a 2-1 score to Manchester United in the derby, having led for most of the match.

Results of this nature have left City seeking an explanation and in Florian Wirtz, they might just have found the answer.

Florian Wirtz Is Young And Full Of Potentials

Florian Wirtz has been a revelation this season at the age of 21 playing for Bayer Leverkusen, and his deliberate accuracy, creativity and malleability in numerous positions make him a highly-coveted prospect in the European market.

While Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg says Wirtz could pen a new contract in Leverkusen, effectively, there is no deal done yet.

So long as talks are still ongoing, City will believe that they still have a shot at persuading Wirtz to continue his career with them at the Etihad Stadium.

City’s interest is not without competition, with Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid believed to have been tracking the situation keenly.

But City have the advantage of being able to provide Wirtz with a place in what could potentially be a new starting XI next season. In the summer, Guardiola’s side might look very different, and Wirtz could be viewed as the leading figure for how City might change.

However, for Wirtz, a transfer to the Premier League would be a big step in his career, and given City success under Pep Guardiola, it is a club well worth mentioning.

If Leverkusen does not tie him down for the long term soon, Manchester City will surely try and snatch one of the hottest prospects in European football.
