Morten Hjulmand Transfer News

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly intensifying their interest in Sporting CP midfielder Morten Hjulmand as Thomas Frank continues reshaping his squad.

Spanish outlet Fichajes claims Spurs have shown “strong interest” in the Danish international, who remains highly regarded by Ruben Amorim after their time together in Portugal.

Since taking charge, Frank has worked to create balance in midfield, with Lucas Bergvall, Pape Matar Sarr, Archie Gray, and Rodrigo Bentancur already forming part of his plans.

The addition of Joao Palhinha has brought steel and consistency, but the manager is believed to be keen on adding another reliable option.

While Conor Gallagher has been linked, it is Hjulmand who appears to be the priority.

Why Morten Hjulmand appeals to Tottenham

Hjulmand has established himself as a pivotal figure for Sporting, making 65 appearances while contributing six goals and five assists from defensive midfield.

His mix of physical strength, composure on the ball, and tactical intelligence has attracted attention across Europe, and Spurs view him as an ideal fit for the Premier League.

Reports suggest Tottenham are willing to table an offer of around €60 million (£52.3m), though negotiations may be complicated by his £68 million release clause.

At 25, Hjulmand is entering his peak years, and the chance to test himself in England’s top flight could be difficult to resist.

United’s lingering interest

Manchester United are also monitoring the situation closely, with Amorim maintaining strong admiration for his former player. That shadow could force Spurs into swift action to avoid a potential bidding war with Old Trafford.

For now, Tottenham remain firmly in the race, confident that Frank’s vision and the Premier League platform may be enough to convince Hjulmand to make the switch to North London.
