Rising Star Kobbie Mainoo Sparks Chelsea Interest Amid Manchester United Contract Stalemate

Manchester United rising star Kobbie Mainoo has attracted interest from Premier League rival Chelsea towards his direction, thus leading to the continuation of speculations about his future at the Old Trafford football club.

United’s undoubtedly talented 19-year-old midfielder turned out to be one of the best youth players in the 2023/24 campaign while also representing England on the international scene.

Mainoo has been in United’s ranks since he was six, coming through the academy to be promoted to the first team by Erik ten Hag in January 2023.

Although he has entered the senior team relatively recently to become a key player, the contract talks have stalled. United have been keen to tie up Mainoo for the long term but the deal is yet to be finalized, hence the rumour on his transfer.

Chelsea Has A Strong Interest In Kobbie Mainoo

Sources close to the player and intermediaries have reportedly contacted Chelsea with the information as per TBR Football.

Although clubs like the Blues appreciate Mainoo and other youngsters, there has not been a single conversation or discussion with Chelsea over the future transfer.

Now, it has become imperative for the talented player to secure a new contract, given that his current contract with Manchester United is close to expiring. Why has Kobbie Mainoo not signed a new contract?

Mainoo unduly has a contract agreement with Manchester United until 2028, which makes him somewhat favourable in contract negotiations for the club.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, this delay is due to the series of changes at the club in the last year. Most of these changes have reportedly affected the flow of the contracts, from ownership issues to restructuring in the board, and the coaching staff.

However, Romano quickly goes on to add that United fans have no reason to panic yet there is no new deal.

The two are eager to negotiate, and there is still a good relationship between Mainoo and the club.

For now, the rumours linking the midfielder to the West London club stand more as a rumour since Manchester United seems committed to tying down the future of the midfielder at the Old Trafford club.
