Manchester United are reportedly among several top European clubs chasing 16-year-old sensation Gilberto Mora, who has become one of North America’s brightest emerging stars.
The Club Tijuana midfielder has attracted widespread attention for his performances in Liga MX, where he became the youngest scorer in the league’s history.
Mora also made headlines globally after helping Mexico win the 2024 Concacaf Gold Cup, becoming the youngest player ever to lift an international trophy — surpassing the records of legends like Pelé and Lamine Yamal.
Gilberto Mora, Perfect Pedri Lookalike
A gifted attacking midfielder, Mora has already registered three goals and one assist in the Liga MX Apertura this season.
Known for his close control, intelligent positioning, and ability to create chances between the lines, he has drawn stylistic comparisons to Barcelona’s Pedri.
His technical finesse, two-footedness, and composure in tight spaces mark him as one of the most exciting teenage prospects in world football.

United’s Long-Term Interest and Youth-Focused Strategy
According to reports from Mundo Deportivo, Manchester United have been tracking Mora for some time, alongside Real Madrid, Ajax, and Barcelona.
His agent, Rafaela Pimienta, has hinted that the youngster could make his European move by the summer of 2026, suggesting that he is already mentally and technically prepared for the step up.
However, due to Brexit regulations preventing Premier League sides from signing overseas players under 18, United will have to wait before making any concrete move.
This could hand an early advantage to clubs in Spain or the Netherlands, who can offer a faster pathway into European football.
Still, Manchester United’s recruitment under INEOS has clearly shifted toward nurturing elite young talent. The club’s successful pursuit of Colombian teenager Cristian Orozco is a prime example.
Earlier this week, Fabrizio Romano confirmed that United have agreed a deal with Fortaleza CEIF to sign the 17-year-old defensive midfielder, who will officially join once he turns 18 in July 2026.
Orozco, who captains Colombia’s U17 side, is praised for his leadership, physicality, and strong defensive instincts — attributes that align well with United’s long-term development goals.
With both Orozco and Mora on their radar, Manchester United appear intent on building a new generation of technically gifted, high-potential midfielders who can define the club’s next era of success.
