Dusan Vlahovic Transfer News

Manchester United could be offered the chance to sign Dusan Vlahovic at a reduced price in January, with Juventus ready to cash in before his contract runs out.

Sources indicate that the Serie A side are prepared to sell the Serbian striker rather than risk losing him on a free transfer in the summer.

Vlahovic, 25, has endured an uncertain spell in Turin since joining from Fiorentina in 2022 for over £66 million.

While his scoring record of 62 goals in 151 games is respectable, he has struggled to consistently match the standards of Europe’s elite forwards.

With new signing Lois Openda now preferred as Juventus’ leading striker, the club are keen to move the Serbian on and reduce their wage bill.

Juventus willing to sanction January exit

The Italian giants have made it clear that Vlahovic is available if a suitable bid arrives in January. His wages remain a stumbling block for Juventus, and with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season, they are prioritising a sale that brings in a fee rather than losing him for nothing.

For United, this presents an opportunity to land a player who was once considered among the brightest young strikers in Europe.

As a teenager at Fiorentina, Vlahovic’s prolific run in the first half of the 2021-22 season, where he struck 17 Serie A goals, earned him his high-profile move to Turin.

However, while he has delivered flashes of quality, he has not fully justified the fee or the hype that surrounded his arrival.

Chelsea are also believed to retain interest in the forward, ensuring that any potential deal would not be without competition.

United’s striker priorities under Amorim

Manchester United’s need for another striker is less pressing after their summer move for Benjamin Sesko.

The 21-year-old joined from RB Leipzig for around £74 million and recently netted his first goal for Ruben Amorim’s side in a 3-1 defeat to Brentford.

Sesko’s form and potential could make United hesitant to commit significant funds to another centre-forward in the winter window.

His numbers across the past two seasons also compare favourably to Vlahovic, who has not quite matched the consistency expected of a top-tier number nine.

That said, a reduced-price deal may still tempt United, particularly with Vlahovic entering the final months of his Juventus contract.

Much may depend on whether Amorim views him as the right fit for his system, which has already seen the squad undergo notable reshaping since his appointment.

A transfer race to watch

The coming weeks will likely determine whether United decide to press ahead with a move.

With Chelsea also monitoring the situation and Juventus motivated to sell, Vlahovic could emerge as one of the more intriguing names on the January market.

For United, the decision rests on balancing immediate squad needs against long-term planning.

Whether Vlahovic is seen as a valuable addition or an unnecessary complication to Sesko’s development will shape their stance as the window approaches.
