Manchester United have reached an agreement to sign highly-rated Colombian midfielder Cristian Orozco, with the move set to be completed in the summer of 2026.

Multiple reports confirm that the 17-year-old defensive midfielder, currently playing for Fortaleza CEIF, will join the Red Devils once he turns 18 next July.

United’s latest move reflects a clear shift in their recruitment strategy. Instead of solely focusing on established stars, the club is building a pipeline of promising talents with long-term potential.

Recent signings such as Chido Obi, Diego Léon, Ayden Heaven, Sékou Koné and Enzo Kana-Biyik underline that approach, and Orozco now becomes the newest addition to that project.

Orozco is already making waves in South America, having been named captain of Colombia’s Under-19 side.

His performances in domestic football and international youth tournaments have showcased his composure, leadership and discipline—qualities that set him apart from many of his peers.

His former Rojo coach Campo Elías Santacruz recalled how the youngster stood out from the very beginning:

“With his character and playing style, he established himself in the Under-15 and Under-17 teams. Despite being so young, he always showed leadership in training.”

Another mentor, Álvaro Escobar, echoed those sentiments, emphasising his maturity both on and off the pitch.

“He has a positive leadership style that has allowed him to be captain of the Colombian national team. He doesn’t get upset when corrected. It’s a pleasure to coach him. I was very happy when I found out he could go to Manchester United.”

A long-term investment for Old Trafford

For now, Orozco will continue his development at Fortaleza CEIF before making the move to England next summer. His arrival is unlikely to make immediate headlines in the first-team picture, but United’s faith in his potential shows how seriously they are planning for the future.
