Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has praised new arrival Senne Lammens, highlighting the Belgian goalkeeper as one of the standout performers in training since joining the club this summer.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Shaw underlined the importance of helping new signings settle quickly and was full of admiration for the 22-year-old shot-stopper.
“I think us as players, it’s really important to help settle in new players. He’s been really good. He’s trained a couple of days, looks really sharp. I’ve been really impressed with him. That’s good, it’s always good to have new additions, and I’m really looking forward to playing with him,” Shaw said.
Senne Lammens strengthening United’s defensive rebuild
Lammens completed his move to Old Trafford from Royal Antwerp earlier in the summer in a deal worth around £18 million.
The Belgian international arrives after an impressive campaign where he made 41 appearances and kept seven clean sheets.
Manchester United’s defence was a major concern last season, conceding 54 goals in the Premier League — the joint-highest among the top half of the table.
With manager Rúben Amorim eager to instil greater defensive solidity, the arrival of Lammens is viewed as a significant step towards both increasing competition and lifting standards in the goalkeeping department.
The young keeper’s composure, reflexes, and ability to command his box have already drawn praise internally, and with Luke Shaw’s public backing, expectations are rising that Lammens could play a key role in United’s new era under Amorim.
